Inspired by Toni-Ann Singh and the Miss World organization, Lisa Gundowry of Mauritius who holds masters in African Studies from Oxford university joined the battle for the Miss World Mauritius 2021 crown. And she won. Today, she is set to be in India, December 2023. Flying the Mauritius flag to success.

She believes that seeing beauty pageants as just a showcase of beauty is archaic because Miss World and other pageants went beyond that notion over thirty years ago. She adds that worrying about your accent and punctuation mistakes does not arise. You go ahead to be who you are and make the best of an international exposure and opportunity, is her advice.

Lisa Gundowry speaks four languages- English, Kreole, French and Spanish. She has two masters degrees. She is twenty-five years old. She stands at five feet nine inches tall. She is certain she is the next Miss World 2023/24.
